Compact embedded board sports Core 2 Duo

Nexcom UK has introduced a device claimed to be the world's first 5.25in industrial embedded CPU board to use the Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The Intel Core 2 Duo processor is one of the latest additions to Intel's range of cutting-edge multicore CPUs. It combines increased processing power with greater performance per watt.

In addition, users will experience improved system responsiveness, with up to 40% faster performance than previous generations of Intel Processors.

This state-of-the-art architecture enables EBC 500 embedded CPU board to address a broad spectrum of industrial computing applications within the industrial automation, transportation, multimedia, gaming and medical.

The 5.25in form factor EBC 500 embedded board computer is RoHS compliant, and runs from a 1.3V supply.

It boasts two PCI Express gigabit Ethernet ports, a PCI Express x16 expansion slot and a standard PCI expansion slot.
