ETX module drops in for RoHS complianceAvailable now from Congatec, the conga-ELX is a low power consuming and economically priced ETX module. This RoHS compliant computer-on-module is ideal as a direct replacement for all applications using the ISAbus. Effective immediately, only RoHS compliant components are permitted for most field applications. As of now, commonly used ETX modules that are based on the Geode GX1 processor can only be used in a few exempted implementations. This makes Congatec's new conga-ELX module an ideal RoHS compliant drop-in replacement. The conga-ELX is equipped with the low power consumption AMD Geode LX800 at 500MHz, which is perfectly suited for all types of mobile and fanless applications. The conga-ELX also features an integrated graphic controller and supports EPI (Embedded Panel Interface) for automatic detection of almost any flat panel display. The video output can be routed to LVDS, digital TTL or analogue VGA as well as optional TV-out. The onboard CompactFlash socket allows the use of cost effective CF cards as a reliable mass storage device. All Congatec boards are equipped with a board controller, which controls certain aspects of the Congatec embedded BIOS. Its ability to isolate itself from the main x86 processor enhances embedded features such as system monitoring, watchdog timer, and I2C bus. These features are also available while in standby mode. Applications that do not use the ISAbus can use the ETX compatible XTX version, the conga-XLX. This is based on the same CPU but instead of the ISAbus it features suspend to RAM, additional USB ports, Serial ATA, LPC bus, digital audio, fan control, ACPI 2.0 power management and ACPI battery support. The conga-ELX is available now. |
