Welcome to Embedded Computing and Control

Pentium-based SBCs go to extremes

Single board computers combine high performance with maximum reliability, guaranteed 5-year availability, RoHS compliance and tolerance for extreme conditions

Two new RoHS compliant versions of the popular Cobra single board computer from VersaLogic Corp offer a choice of standard (0 to 60C) and extended (-40 to +85C) temperature ranges. These new single board computers combine high performance with maximum reliability, guaranteed 5-year availability, RoHS compliance and, in the case of the extended temperature version, a tolerance for extreme conditions.
The extended temperature and standard temperature Cobra are both appropriate for high-end applications in transportation, automation, medical equipment, and other areas where extreme reliability is needed.

Using the innovative Intel Pentium M processor and 855 GME chipset, the new Cobras are complete single board computers on an EBX platform.

The EBX-12p (standard temperature version) features a 1.8GHz Pentium M processor, whereas the EBX 12t (extended temperature version) features a 1.0GHz Pentium M processor.

Both boards include onboard support for up to 2Gbyte of RAM, Extreme Graphics 2 video, Ethernet, USB, serial communication and analogue and digital I/O.

The new boards include specialised reliability features, such as TVS devices to protect against ESD damage, a watchdog timer and CPU temperature sensor, and an OEM-enhanced field-upgradeable embedded BIOS.

Off the shelf options include Gigabit Ethernet, analogue I/O and a pass-through PC/104-Plus connector.

Customisations include conformal coating, customised BIOS, and many other options.
