Modular FPGA and DSP power goes industrial

Analogue interface module is redesigned with industrial-rated components and a new thermal design that doubles as a Faraday cage for shielding purposes

Sundance Multiprocessor Technology has created a new version of its best-selling SMT370 DAQ module, re-engineered with full industrial specifications. For five years the standard SMT370 has provided physicists, researchers, system engineers and scientists with a high-quality and tightly integrated analogue interface for their digital signal processing applications.
Now, in addition to the installation of industrial-rated components, the heatsink and fan arrangement of the standard version has been replaced by a custom-made anodised aluminium heatsink which doubles as a Faraday cage, protecting the analogue signals from noise.

With no airflow the system is rated to an ambient temperature of 40C, and has no moving parts to replace.

'After five years' success as a flagship dual-channel ADC and DAC module, it's time this flexible and capable product was available for more industrial purposes', says Flemming Christensen, Managing Director of Sundance Multiprocessor Technology. This is a significant milestone in our programme to bring our modular FPGA and DSP power to industrial applications'.

The compact SMT370-I offers a pair of 14bit ADCs clocked at 105MHz and a pair of 16bit DACs clocked up to 400MHz with interpolation.

These are integrated with a large Xilinx Virtex-II FPGA.

The module can be combined with Sundance's extensive range of DSP, FPGA, storage and radio modules to create full digital processing systems from COTS parts.

With comprehensive support from 3L Diamond FPGA, the SMT370 is easily integrated into complex arrays of modules, with all the otherwise tiresome configuration and communication functions handled behind the scenes using a simple but powerful GUI.

The SMT370-I is available now for a 10-off price of US $6245, and OEM prices are available on request.
